Observations:
Group work seems to be very efficient no matter the grade level.
Some students have a very positive outlook on their learning. For example, one of the students got their test back and the over all mark was not that great at all however, the students mentioned that in previous tests they have always left the graphing questions blank and for this test they got it correct.
It is really important to encourage each student to look at thinks from this perspective.
Students only focus on marks. The feedback does not seem to matter that much for them. They have been taught the game of school (memorize, write the test, forget). As teachers we need to emphases the importance of learning and not marks.
There seems to be a lot of gaps in students learning. This seem to be due to two years of online learning and also poor math foundation.
Majority of the students are not used to creating study notes.
Materials need to be broken down and the pace of learning needs to be adjusted to the level that the students are at. Otherwise the students will be not be prepared for what is ahead of them.
Students feel uncomfortable when they are being taught multiple ways of solving something. They are not used to being given options.
Memorizations seems to be the way that students learn things. They are not aware of the learning that is happening around them.
Connections between concepts seems to be lacking.
Students seem to be used to getting high marks during the pandemic that their expectations now are that they cannot get anything lower than what they previous got.
Technology has become a part of their math learning. Graphic problems and questions are done on Desmos.
Level marking gives the teachers a better understanding of where the each student is.
Each math classroom should have math dictionaries all over the class. Students seem to really enjoy using them when they do not understand something.
